李牧，1974年3月出生于江苏省丰县，现居云南大理。他于1995年毕业于苏州工艺美术学校，2001年毕业于清华大学美术学院。
他尝试着从自己的生活出发，通过艺术重新建立起他和周围空间、人群的关系，用他对生活的切身体验来探讨艺术和社会相互影响的可能性。他的作品形式包括录像、照片、绘画、装置、纪录片和写作等。
李牧举办的个展和参加的群展主要包括：持续的讲演, 歌德学院，上海(2016); 李牧：一个人，一个村庄，一个美术馆，范阿贝美术馆，埃因霍温，荷兰(2015)； 第六届莫斯科双年展，莫斯科，俄罗斯（2015）；仇庄项目：索尔·勒维特和卢道德，震旦博物馆，上海（2015）；不完美的告白，范阿贝美术馆，埃因霍温，荷兰（2014）；幸存技巧：反抗者的叙述 ,MOCP当代摄影美术馆，芝加哥，美国（2012）；Apart, we are together,Anne & Gordon Samstag美术馆，阿德莱德，澳大利亚（2010）；城市故事-波罗的海三年展（舒服），CAC 维尔纽斯，立陶宛（2009）等。
他于2011年获得瑞信艺术奖入围奖，2011年获得亚洲文化协会（ACC）奖助金赴纽约驻留，2017年提名欧洲 VISIBLE大奖。
Li Mu, was born in 1974, Feng County, Jiangsu Province, China and lives and works in
Dali, Yunnan province of China.He graduated from the Suzhou School of Art and
Design, Suzhou in 1995 and the Academy of Art of Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2001.
Li Mu created works of different categories, including video, photography, installation
documentary, drawing and writing. He looked forward to transcending the boundaries
of himself and broadening his understanding towards art via these works. Everyday life
played an important role in his works. A relationship between the environment, the
general public and him was established, blurring the boundary between art and life by
resorting to his life experience.
Li Mu has had numerous group exhibitions and solo exhibitions including: A
Continuous Speech Goethe Institution Open Space, Shuanghai, China(2016); Li Mu-A
Man, A Village, A Museum, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2015); The 6th
Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art Moscow,Russia,2015; Qiuzhaung Project—-Sol
LeWitt and Lu Daode, Aruro Museum, Shanghai(2015); Confessions of the Imperfect,
Van Abbemuseu, Eindhoven, Netherlands(2014)；Survival Techniques-Narratives of
Resistance ,Museum of Contemporary Photograph, Chicago,US(2012)；Apart, we are
together ,Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art, Adelaide, Australia(2010);Urban
Stories:The X Baltic Triennial of International Art ,CAC, Vilnius,Lithuania(2009).
He received the Credit Suisse Art Award Finalist In 2011, Asia Cultural Council
(ACC)’s Sovereign Art Foundation Fellowship in 2011,Nominated for the European
VISIBLE Awards in 2017.
