Thanks for my last 4 pieces drawings was collected by Van Abbemuseum.As your help and Davide and other collectors help I can continue Qiuzhuang Project.
I had met some friends they talked about Qiuzhuang Project some days ago,they bring forward some questions.The first is the pesants participated in the art project,they are become “small white mouse” as sacrificial lamb,it’s not equality.Second question was they think it’s new culture colonialism as this project bring west culture and value into Chinese villager’s life.I think their questions on behalf of most Chinese intellectual’s standpoint.
A LIBRARY was opened more than one month,the villagers was accustomed to the library from their strange at first,but the children still keep their ardors to it.I opened the television and display about morden art’s movies to children and welcome their coming in weekend days.Children no reading habits,not cherished books,no hygiene habits.Very soon,much of dirty fingerprints and kink marks on the books,some books were damaged.Adults came to here talking,smoking and spitting. The library’s worker Wei Yiming he is my primary school teacher,he can understand my project.As we have not many books,his work was care of the books and children,and cleaning works.He always introduce my works to the villagers.
I have started Qiuzhuang History’s work,I interviewed some old man about the village’s history in the village.It’s a hard work because the village’s history was very blur,I can not find any informations before 1900.Zhong Ming walked in the village and he take a lots of photos.
It’s become warmed,the willows start burgeons, we can feel some green is coming.Spring’s wind is very strong and full of dusts and heavy truck’s noises. the wood block workshop started working,adults very busy to get money.I thought the project was very huge and complex when I stay out of the village,but it’s so small now when I stay in the village.
I have working on the copy works about Van Abbemuseum’s collections.The start working was John Kermeling’s light installation HI HA.I very interested in this conditions,here’s workers have never seen this kind of materials,so we had to find a new material and method to made it.It’s resemble the original, but they are different. I had finished Sol Lewitt’s 15 Wall sculptures, the workshop of aluminium alloy’s boss and staff very like the works and they think it’s beautiful.One piece was installate on the wall of A Library’s neighbour.The hostess was very angry and she said she can not find where was art,she think it’s not beautiful. My father’s good friend put it on the wall and put his crafts in the works.A young guy decided put his wedding photos into the sculpture.My sister don’t like to use it,she just looked it as art works in her home, it’s decoration.
Zhong Ming still keep recoding the works with video,most villager start feel well when they faced to video camera and we recoded their attitudes and life status.
And then,I still need your collaboration. 1,I need several minites video for the project’s documentary.a,a interview to you,pls talk about the project and why and how you support the project,how collaborate between Van Abbe and Art Hub and me. b,What about your viewpoints to some people think it’s a new culture colonialism.
2,A Library still need books support,if we can have some picture books and postcard from Van Abbe’s library and bookshop?
