Re-performing Joseph Beuys---How to Explain Today to a Hare performance Li Mu 2011 How to Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare was a performance piece enacted by the German artist Joseph Beuys on 26 November 1965 at the Galerie Schmela in Dresden. With his head entirely coated in honey and gold leaf, he began to explain pictures to a dead hare. Whispering to the dead animal on his arm in an apparent dialog, he processed through the exhibit from artwork to artwork. Occasionally he would stop and return to the center of the gallery, where he stepped over a dead fir tree that lay on the floor. I will re-performan this performance on 19 March 2011 at Bund 18 Shanghai of China.I will with honey and gold leaf on my head and sit on a wood chair.I will talk with a hare, and then I will read books for the hare on the table, these books include art, news, philosophy etc.At last I will leave with it.
